The Cure Disintegration Remastered

Posted by: onip on 03 June 2010

Hi All,

I am a huge Cure fan. The remastered Disintegration comes out on June 8th in North America, but I believe it is already out in the rest of the world. Has anyone heard it yet? Is the sound quality good?

Hello onip, I have always thought the original was not too bad a recording. Have not heard the "new" version yet but all reviews I have read did not really comment on the sound but on the additional tracks and demos etc.

Will probably get it anyway as I am sure you will!

Have a good weekend

Ron

Hi onip,
The remastered Disintegration is certainly brighter than the original. At the moment I'm preferring the original offering but this may be through familiarity. I bought the set for the Entreat Plus offering which is sadly quite thin sounding in places.
Regards,
Steve.

I've got it on both vinyl and CD (for the extras)...I had the original on vinyl - much played over the years.

The vinyl came in extremely tight fitting sleeves and covered in fingerprints (several of us suffered from that! Frown) but it benefitted from being on a double album rather than squished onto a single LP (plus the two extra songs that weren't on the original pressing!)

Not listened to the CD on the main system yet (it's in the car) but the extras CD has some interesting alternative versions of the songs.

Thanks for the feedback! I am going to get the CD because of the extras (I have the original disintegration and Entreat on LP). It will be interesting to see how the remastered CD sounds compared to the original LP.
