Cable Question

I'm having some problems with my 92R/90.3 at the moment - one of the amp channels appears not to have any appreciable gain. I think one of the channels on the power-amp is blown but it could also be a cable problem (unlikely as I'm getting sound on both channels) or a problem with the pre-amp and I'd prefer to confirm which it is before sending the kit in for repair.

I have several RCA to 4 pin DIN cables I use for connecting non-Naim input devices to the pre-amp, could one of these be used to link an RCA plugged pre-amp to the Naim poweramp or conversely a RCA plugged power-amp to the 92R? I have an external power supply I can use for the pre-amp.

Or should I just bite the bullet and send the whole lot in for repair?

Regards
Steve

The 4-pin DIN used for signal only (such as CD player to preamp) is a different format to the one used between pre and power. If you look at the pins you'll see they are laid out differently and therefore the thing won't fit.

I think you ought to take the lot into your Naim dealer (bound to be one in Edinburgh) for them to try the various combinations...
