I have the 1.1s and was considering upgrading to the 1.3SEs. After hearing the 1.3's at a dealer, I came home and played around with the position of my 1.1s. I concluded that my speakers sounded almost as good, and the system would benefit more from upgrading amplification from Nait 5 to 200/202. IMHO a move from the 1.1s to the 1.4s is not a signficiant enough jump to make a real difference. If you went to floorstanders, you would certainly gain more bass and also efficiency. You might also want to consider speakers in other lines, like the totem Mani 2 if you have the power to drive them and require monitors. However, the 1.1 is a great little box when you put some muscle behind it. Also, room size is a factor. I can't see myself going to larger speakers unless I have a larger room to put them in, so it's probably a new house before new speakers for me.
Just my 2 cents.

This may be the case. They certainly are marketing them that way, that's for sure.

thanks guys.
I have a 250 driving my 1.1's and i love the sound they produce, totaly belies the size of them ! but they have recently developed an anoying buzz at low frequencies (esp Charlie Hagen !!) so will be off to the dealers for repair and I plan to take advantage of this by demoing a pair of 1.4's this weekend hopfully
so will let you know my findings.
The 1.1's are great but I hanker for a bit more umph, not sure if the 1.4's are the right direction ? or go to floorstanders ? my worry there is my room size, although a fair size 28ft by 15ft my listening position is only 12 ft from the speakers so a floorstander may be a little to much hence the concentration on monitors. I have only Dyn expience realy as I went to them from a pair of old R352 monitor audios. So I welcome alternate suggestions.
I like a controlled but deep bass with clear mid and treble (dosnt everyone !!) I have heard the lower range Naim speakers on occasion and to be honest they are not realy my cup of tea (sorry)that may be down to the systems they were attached too ?
My system is CDx 82(2xHi)250 with Naca5 etc

Phil,
As I found the Totem Model 1s similar to the Dyne 1.1 (there is actually a Dyne mid-bass in the Totems), I would be curious to hear what you think of the Totem Mani-2s if you get a chance to hear them. It is a monitor with an isobarik design that apparently goes down to 29Hz. A couple folks on this forum are driving them quite well with Naim gear and the 250 is a good match. As far as other speakers, there are many that are suggested. Check some of the other threads.
Cheers,
Mike
