Do these speakers sound the same?

If not, whats the difference?

Mathew,

Never heard the ES11. However, ES12 and M12 are very very similar - the M12 being supposedly a little easier on the amplifier from what I've been told.

The original ES series of speakers were designed with the use of naim amplification i.e. a 250.
A popular system during that time i.e. early 90's was epos and naim...but with Epos and creek being one and the same nowadays...things have changed.
The new M series is reputed to be ok with other amps but there is a synergy with the new creek electronics...i.e. the integrated and the new big bad pre-power that is on the horizon.
The creek electronics and epos speakers are designed to work as a system.
Much like a naim system...take anything outside the confines of the system and it's hit or miss.

I had these speakers for 10 years before switching to IBLs. IMHO they have an excellent midband presentation, but do not excel at the frequency extremes; I grew particularly tired of their bass, which had a lot to do with my present room acoustics and my changing taste in music (they have a reflex port at the end which can sound boomy if not properly set up). But they are capabable of an astonishing voice reproduction with the right sources :-)

I,ve done the dem from 180 to 250 with the epos..this made bugger all difference ...In fact I personnally prefered the 180...Funny that because a 180 was the amp used during the making of the ES11.. the 250 was used with the ES14.. Razz

Not sure about the new M12,s but the ES range takes some serious beating...mine are currently being replaced by Nbl's Eek
