Display and connectors

Posted by: Lightkeeper on 19 November 2002

Hi to all !

Just running in my new CD 5 and Intro 2 speakers.
Surfing on the Narcom remote, turning on and off display and wondering is it a noticable difference in sound between on and off display ?
Couldn't say for now, did anyone hear the difference?
Second. I was finnally decide to solder Naim speaker wire connectors on my Naca 5 instead of el cheapo some German made "Monitor" company banana plugs. After long fight with Naca 5, soldering is over, I connect it to system and guess what?! There is no those little harshness in vocal, ambiental reverberation is more defined and the picture is spectrally more extended. It was shure that Naim speaker wire connectors are not made how it's made accidentally. Naim people was take care even for that parts to matched with other Naim chain elements.
Another star for Naim.

I find a definite improvement with display off on both CDS II and NAT 05, using a 52. There is less 'noise'.

Rocketeer !

Sit on a rocket and go to buy Naca 5.
Your system will be rebirth.

David !

I understand that you can hear a difference on CDS2, but on tuner?!?! You have a good hearing I suppose.

I notice a differnece between the timer on as compared to the track displayed or nothing displayed, but between track displayed and noting displayed I couldn't honestly call it.

I was exactly in the same position a few weeks ago. Get rid of those Monitor connectors (both on the amp and the speakers sides), solder the Naim connectors and plug them in the amp.
Improvments were really huge, more dynamics, everything more defined / refined, as Ozren described it.
Costs nothing and gain a lot. I like it !
