Still mis hearing those lyrics!

Just the other night listening to clubland by EC,
I realised it wasn't
The boys extort the mercandise
but
The boys next door, the mums and dads.

Then again I've had a steep learning curve
Boontown Rats She's so Modern
is not
I think she sings like clockwork
BUT
I think in sync like clockwork

and my worst
Irish Band Stepaside song called "Sit down and relapse"
is not
Sit down and relapse disco lights at the end of the tunnel
BUT
sit down and relapse ther is no light at the end of the tunnel.

anyone else admit to any clangers?

Dear Sloop,

On a point of pedantry may I say that a song has a lyric and not lyrics.

Regards,

Erik

My favourites:

In the Beatles' "I'll Follow the Sun", I mis-heard

"One day, you'll look, to see I've gone" as
"One day, you'll look, to see a gun".

In the Moody Blues' "Bless the Wings":

"In a far-off wonderland, that flashes past my eyes" as
"In a far-off wonderland, the Fascists pass my eyes"

Everything But The Girl, Walking Wounded:

'Nothing can replace the ass on you'

I have some childhood memories of what I thought these lyrics were.

Led Zep (Stairway)
"and as we wind on down the road" what I thought
"and their is a wino down the road"

Often wondered why all of a sudden they were talking about some drunk down the road Roll Eyes

The song is actually err...Like Clockwork...not She's So Modern (same album though!)

Cheers

A good mate of mine wanted to know why anyone would actually want 'all the flob on the Tyne' and kinda collapsed in heaps when I explained it was actually 'The fog on the tyne is all mine, all mine'

Now that takes me back a while.

Steely Dan - 'Time Out Of Mind' from 'Gaucho'.

The chorus goes:-

Children we have it right here
It’s the light in my eyes
It’s perfection and grace
It’s the smile on my face

In the second chorus "It's the light in my eyes" sounds like "It's the light in my arse" and I think that Fagen sings it deliberately, for a laugh.

Whadya reckon?

John.

I always heard 'arse'!

In fact the sentance sounds like "Line in my arse" which gets even more obscure. Perhaps the Fagen/Mcdonald pairing up on that line adds to the confusion. Either way I'm with you on that one.

Maybe the arse in question is the one making the farting noise at 4.40mins into Godwhacker.....
