The audition

Posted by: Vaughn3D on 30 October 2009

Tonight a friend of mine is coming over for a listening session. He is not an audiophile but is a professional sound engineer for a very popular TV program in the U.S., so he knows his stuff. Oddly enough, he does his home listening with a Pioneer surround receiver and B&W 603s and a big subwoofer so he may find the sound "bass lite" compared to what he is used to. He hasn't heard any of the equipment that I am using now, so I am interested to see how he reacts. I admit I am nervous, as silly as that may sound.

The material will be Porcupine Tree, he and I are both huge fans.

Serve good and friendly food and wine and your sound system will look after it self as you both listen to the music and not the system.

Vaughn,

Sounds like you will create your own PT fans greatest setlist Cool

Perhaps you could throw in some visuals on your big TV as well Smile

Enjoy

You have a SuperNait. You need not be nervous. Your friend will love it! Winker

Not odd at all, its probably what he likes at his price point.

Probably. But he might find he enjoys your system's bass better than his own.

Not silly. You are worried that he won't like your system and wonder why you spent so much to deliver so little. Provided YOU like your system, its simply a matter of taste.

Cheers

Vaughn,

How did it go, did you pass the audition?

It went well, although a weird distortion was coming from the right side...oh wait that was our wives talking the entire time. Winker He didn't comment on the sound but from the looks of it he enjoyed himself. It was nice to have a guest that wasn't only concerned with seeing The Dark Knight on blu-ray.

We listened to The Incident Disc 2 and Lightbulb Sun

He works on World Wrestling Entertainment.
