Moderators. Can We Please Chuck These Stupid Stars Down Some Black Hole

I think they add nothing to the debate, nothing to the dissemination of information, fill my screen with more unwanted iconic trash, have no humourous role to play any more (if ever they did) and are usually posted by the originator of the topic anyway.

I agree it may have been fun once - but is it still fun? I've had enough of stars. Believe me, I've tried reducing Mike's star status whenever possible but if I post 1 star to Mike's 5 the forum gives him 4 - where's the fun in that?

BTW Why is it that the NAP250 and the DBLs are the only things in What Hi-Fi's entirely new, totally revamped, extra wonderful, pile of old drivel they call the buying guide, that don't have any stars at all where the stars should be? Maybe they just floated onto the forum.

That's actually not true. If there are two ratings, one for "5" and the other for "1", then the average will be "3". If you posted "1" against a 5-star rating, and the result was "4", then three people had voted "5" prior to your vote.

As Jonathan Ribee remembers, I think there must be a simple rule :

If someone rates me with 5 stars, than don't touch it !

If someone rates me with less, please cancel it !

I'll ask Paul Desmond to take charge for this .
