Djorg --
Bienvenue au Forum!
Naim is an excellent second-hand buy, due to the servicing and backup, but it may cost you more if you have to send it to Salisbury from France. Also, buying Naim S/H, you generally won't lose money if you decide to sell it on.
I'll PM you with the url of a good S/H 'flat-earth' site.

Hmm. No I won't. How do you send PM's now? I've added djorg to my buddies, but clicking on his username in the buddies list just takes me back to his profile.
Anyway the link is here
Don't know if this now contravenes posting rules. Sorry.

It doesn't sound as good as new

I've had some very good experiences with second hand kit. With naim especially, it's a bargain and it holds its value very well. I've bought a tuner (a lovely NAT 101 & SNAPS, I won't buy naim's current tuner as I want a tuning dial - silly reason I know), a pre-amp (nac 32.5, which has just been serviced by naim and sounds glorious) and a NAP 250. I've used a mix of pink fish and ebay (though I always feel a little wary on ebay, it's proved safe).
Naim's service department is another excellent point about buying second hand, since they'll make something as good as new again.
However, it's worth making sure you check various things to make sure you're not being scammed (if you do a quick search you should find plenty of advice on the subject of using ebay).
regards,
Tam
Just changed "scanned" to "scammed" - hope that was what you intended.

Thanks Adam, it's good to have a pedant on hand!

thanks for your post!
Tim:
Merci beaucoup de votre acceuil ! et toutes mes excuses pour mon anglais !!!
Some of us think that s/h naim products do not sound as good as new ones(Berlin) and others think after a salisbury return old naim product sound as new ones.
So, must i ever consider a salisbury return for s/h products? All products need a return (CD player, power supply, tuner, amps...)?

I think it should be pointed out to a newcomer that Berlin Fritz has never owned/heard Naim HiFi. His post was mischevious!
Naim Salisbury will advise when an item should be serviced, they have a record of when manufactured and if re-capped. It makes buying s/h Naim an even better proposition, and partly explains why it holds value.
I have bought a various items S/h including a 52/Scap from Tom Tom Audio (should find it on google search). I'd happily buy from them again.

Accepted Old Bean, and I whole-heartedly reccommend any new members not to take any postings whatso'ever, literally on this forum, as they do so at their peril. I fear, innit.

Haven't bought 2nd-hand Naim, but have sold, eventually creating it, and would like to think that purchaser, via Naim excellent support, had got what they wanted.
Have always been delighted with my purchases of 2nd hand Linn (LP12-Kan-Isobarik).

I have purchased most of my system secondhand from Naim dealers who are selling on for other customers. Whilst the obvious benefit of second hand is a financial saving I think that it is also important to see S/H items as a valuable form of recycling. The same can be said for items like guitars and wooden furniture where second hand can be viewwed as saving the world's resources.

Bought half my system new and half s/h from dealer. All of the s/h needed service sooner, rather than later, so add that cost in your calculations. Serviced Naim is as good as new.

I'm happy to learn that for most of us Serviced Naim is as good as new.

Naim is quality kit and thus a good secondhand buy.
Its better to buy quality secondhand kit which is better built and sounding, than new kit at the same price point.
How much new kit at £600-£700 is going to be the equal of a used 72/140 in sound quality?
