Running 1080p24 issue

Posted by: Fozz on 23 March 2009

Hi,

I am running a pioneer blu ray BDP-LX08 into an infocus 7205 projector, the latter flashed with latest firmware 2.4. the blu ray is also on firmware 1.25 latest one.

now I realise the projector is not true hi-def but I have an issue when setting the blu ray on
1080p 24 (this is done as source direct mode) and comes out at this when the appropriate source material is used.

basically in certain moving scenes I am getting ripping of the image, usually exactly half way down the screen but sometimes at each third of the image where the image appears sliced and the segments move with a lag so you see the tear.

could this be down to the projector not being true hidef I wonder...? All is fine if I set 1080p 50hz.

thanks

Gary

Gary - It's not so much the fact the projector isn't full HD, which in itself isn't a problem and just results in a lower resolution, but I'm guessing it's an issue to do with your projector not handling the native 24fps of Bluray....?

Setting to the more 'standard' 50hz refresh rate removes the problem as you have found although this removes the slightly 'filmic' feel that comes from 24fps....It's only really been in the last couple of years that TV/LCD's etc universally handle 24fps, it used to be feature only found on top end screens....

Thanks a lot Steve, as long as nothing wrong with the blu ray player I can live with it for now until I go full HD in the next year or so. Gary

If you like the infocus then I can recommend the IN82 or above BUT they changed the lens position from left to right so you may need to change where it's positioned.

Of course, no problem just need to know dates so I can confirm. Will contact you.
