Pseudo Surround Sound

I've just been reading about'Differential Speakers' on www.enoland.co.uk. This involves creating a'Pseudo Surround Sound'by wiring a 3rd speaker to both '+' output terminals on your amplifier.
I've got a spare speaker kicking around but, for obvious reasons, would prefer not to blow up my Naim amplification by trying this out.Has anyone given this a go?

Many moons ago I used what I believe was called the Hafler method (ie David Hafler) but I can't really remember the details. Seems to me it connect the positive terminals together of the "front" speakers and then the negative terminals were somehow connected to the rears (in my case two rear speakers), I believe the main leads to both front terminals were conventionally wired. Don't quote me or wire it that way without learning more .... but my memory is of an out of phase rear "enhancement" that created a lush ambience and on some recordings was downright holographic. Sorry for the imperfect memory .... my guess is you might search the web and get some results.
