Used Naim gear resale value?

Posted by: mogul on 26 April 2008

Hi Forum Members
I generally keep an eye on Audiogon (US re-sale website)to monitor the prices being posted by those with used Naim gear to sell. I think I'm seeing a downward trend in pricing. The downward trend in the US economy must surely be taking it's toll and in fact may create some bargains for those still in the high end audio market. How are prices holding up in G.B. and elsewhere in the world?
I'll slyly wait for 552 fire sale prices... and wait, and wait...
Regards
David

Hi Mogul:

Sorry to be a downer--but you might be waiting a long time. NANA U.S price on 552 just went up from $28,500 to $30,100! If used prices are on average 55% (conservative)of new then used 552 just went up $800.00 $$$$'s U.S. Smile

Hi

This thread pops up about 4-5 times every year saying the same thing. In my experience Naim prices are rock solid, but different products have varying values at any one time. For example at the moment the flavours of the month are NAP 180's, NAP 200's, AROs; 'out' are NAP 135s, NAC 82s and CDX2s. I have no doubt this will change again in a few weeks. I predict a big come back for well looked after nice finish SBLs!

You are probably in a better position to buy ex US goods than at any time in the past 10 years.

The US $ has dropped about a third against the $Cn dring the past few years

I may have mis-lead some by commenting on the wait for a bargain 552.
My real question is about a sliding US market for used Naim gear. Seeing slow movement of well priced items, and then a NAP 300 for under $4000 triggered my thoughts on the matter. Time will tell and Don you are of course right about the strength of CAD to USD and buying opportunities.

Whereabouts are you?

We are up on Preditor Ridge when we are in BC and spend a bit of time at Southern Interior Flight Centre at the north end of Kelowna airport.

Cheers

Hi Mogul:

I saw that used 300 also for $4000; however, low price and no feedback =extreme caution.
