Royksopp - Melody A.M

Hi Folks,
Just got a copy of this excellent album, but my question is this;
Does the CD have recorded vinyl 'surface noise' on some of the tracks? There seem to be distinct clicks/pops on the CD and I couldn't decide if it was part of the recording, something amiss with the sistem or the dreaded copy protection!
Any confirmation welcomed!
Thanks and regards,
Steve

It's recorded. Just like some Moby stuff, its part of the whole thing - and the drum sound on A Higher Place initially sounds like it came down a phone line, but the better the system, the more it gels somehow to standing apart from everything else and nearly makes sense. Has to be very loud. I love A Higher Place, just always waiting for 2mins-44secs...

Thanks Rasher,
Thought either me or my sistem were hearing things.

Steve.

Of course there are lots of albums like this, with recorded vinyl sounds. This isn't so much a problem when played on CD 'cos at least you know it should be there. But when playing a vinyl Lp the paranoia set's in, .. is it recorded? ... is it surface noise??? It sometimes take a while to work out.

Hi Greeny,
The ultimate joke would be if the vinyl versions of those albums had no recorded noise, and it was up to you to abuse the record in order to create a similar effect!
Regards,
Steve.

It is a very good album, if you ever get the chance to see them live, then do they are superb!

Already saw them live (twice actually!) once before they were famous!
You really need to get a copy of "Gals and Pals - Blue on Blue" to fully appreciate the album. It's on the "Sampled 4" compilation (out of print everywhere else).
I believe I mentioned this album some time ago and no one cared!
So here's another one for you - Mew!
As for surface noise? Er... well. some tracks could have what might be remotely described as it... suggest ones you're puzzled about! Admittedly some electronic effects sound a little like badly encoded mp3s! (slap me for mentioning mp3s in the music forum
)
