Bi-amping Wilson Benesch

Posted by: Marcopolovitch on 01 March 2004

Ok guys. I know it breaks all the rules. But I bought CD5/NAC112/ NAP150/ FC2/ Stageline/ Headline/ FC2again and ... Wilson Benesch Orators.

It's a fantastic system. I tried lots of other speakers (including PMCFB1s, Spendors, Arcs) but there was no comparison. Would not swap it for the Laphroaig Distillery. I have tried upgrading the CD5 for a CDX2 but was unmoved.

So, to upgrade, I am considering bi-amping the WBs with a SNAXO-2-4 or whatever it's called and another NAP150.

I have never had much respect for rules (ex-Catholic). So, has anyone tried anything as wacky as this?

Hahahahahahahahahah,

Marco

I thought that bi-amping meant two amplifiers feeding the same signal into the speakers without an active crossover. (purely using the passive one that comes with most speakers)
Surely what you're saying is you're considering going active?

Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......

Now I am confused! Confused
Yes you need two amps to go active with a 2 way speaker, but you could bi-amp with a 32-way speaker!!!
Not something I've ever tried - I think it depends very much on the speaker and whether it's designed for bi-amping.
For example, from what I've read, Neat do recommend bi-amping their speakers...

Yo, Chaps.

Let's not disappear up our own bots here. What I'm interested in is.... a two way speaker system with an active crossover and two power amps.

Heigho,
