A Sense of Wonder

Hello Chaps,

As a newcomer to the forum but as a Naim user for ten years I cant help a sense of wonder at the musical rewards available to us. As an electronics engineer it took me a long time to realise that the Naim system is so carefully balanced, that any attempt to tamper with it can very easily lose the music.

The mains leads and blocks are a good example of a complex synergy in operation, so called super leads are not always the wonder workers that the manufacturers would have us believe.

As an electronics engineer I cannot explain it in engineering terms, Ijust listen to my Naim system and shake my head in wonder.

Yes, I played highlights from the Mehta recording of Turandot last night just to play something through my little used CDS(1).

It was wondrous, despite the sonic superiority of vinyl.

Then I watched a tape of yesterday's Buffy re-run. Great day.

Regards.

I listened to the first time last night an album my Fiance has aowned since we have known each other, by T Power. It sousnded utterly sublime.

The volume wasn't to loud, arond 10 and I had a beer in my hand, all in all a very nice moment.

Can't say though if I might have felt this way with any old thing at that moment.

Hello Naimnutts

I spent many a happy hour trying to improve the 250 power amp, but eventualy I returned it to its original condition (with the help of a very understanding Naim Service Department).

It seems that the longer the equipment is left switched on, the better it sounds. Also any disturbance of the leads etc. seems to need time to settle down for the sound to return to it's former glory.

So a little light dusting is all that is allowed, also my local dealer Mr. Tibor Palatinus keeps an eye on me.
