Wall mounted hi-fi rack?

Hello.

We are in the process of moving furniture around in our living room. The old hi-fi/TV cabinet (Ikea - billy) has now gone with the TV, Video, DVD and sky box arranged nicely in a corner using the original TVs cabinet. But my nait 3, CD 3.5 and Hicap now sit next to it on the floor resting on the shelves from the afore mentioned billy cabinet. The wife has expressed a wish to declutter the area so I suggested a nice hi-fi dedicated rack/stand and she commented that it would look nice on the wall, therefore does anyone have experience on mounting equipment on shelves etc. Any advantages/disadvantages, specific manufacturers who make hi-fi shelves are welcomed.

Many thanks

Gareth

Hi Gareth.
I have only had experience with a turntable wall shelf made by 'Target' that I used to sit my Linn LP on. It was years ago but if my memory serves me right then it was a very good way of curing a bouncy floor problem and I can recall no other problems but there again the years have made us more aware of degredations that supports can introduce. But your letter has set me thinking that there must be an outlet for such a support and not just for turntables but to sit a complete system on instead. Surely it would cure several 'problems' that many must suffer from? The only drawback I can see is how to fix it to a wall secure enough that would support the enormous weight some systems amount too, perhaps that is why they have never been produced?

Try Stands Unique = my LP12 sounds quite happy on it and = it looks good (WAF high).
