Counting Crows - 'Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings'

I'd been looking forward to getting the new CC CD from the States as I really like 'August and Everything After' which sounds great.

The recording of 'SNASM' is utter shite. Someone deserves to be shot for it. Are these people deaf, or more likely, only interested in the radio/mp3 market?

It's the very worst example of a loud, pumped-up, forward, raw and compressed recording I've heard.

Unlistenable. Anyone want a free beer mat?

A worrying trend in modern popular recording for the likes of us.

No thanks, I've got a few of my own.

I know it's a bit of a waste, but if you've a cd player in the car,try it there; you may as well try to get some use out of it...

My Kasabian album, for example is passable in the car, but is virtually unlistenable to in my home system at anything more than, well, pretty quiet, really.

It's sadly ironic that, despite current technology, so often the results obtained are so inferior to those attained in oft-derided decades like the 70's and 80's.

It'll be interesting to hear what the new B52's album is like.I hope it's a damn sight better than the Kasabian one.

Unfortunately the CD is compressed big time, too bad because it is excellent material, aiming for the ipod crowd apparently.

For my money Adam Duritz has been rechurning the same opaque drivel since Recovering the Satellites. A few decent tunes have served to keep me interested but unfortunately this is no return to the quality of August.....

The raucous, desperately compressed production is the final turn off
