I´ve bought the "Back to black" album and her voice is great.I didn´t know what to expect, after all the fussy around her and on the press!Definitely, her voice has soul,I hope she overcome her problems with drinks and bulimia!
She has a great career if she overcome those problems.Well, she is creative,no doubt, and she argues that playing guitar and singing helps her mood a lot, overcoming depressions even!

Last christmas i bought back to black on CD and although the music is fab - a sure classic to come the sound quality was off putting - compressed for radio play i expect. This Christmas however i treated my girlfriend to a copy on Vinyl and the sound is fab - yes she opened it last - and played it all night and it's on again this morning. Superb!
For those who doubt her or are put off by her, try the LP. It's fab!!

I agree it's much better than the CD. It's still sounds compressed and harsh, though, and is not as good as it should be for a quality artist.
I wish it was because I love this album.

I've got a U.S. pressing on its way to me, I'll report back when I get it.

I'm sorry I don't think any perfect pressing would make her sound good to me, annoying voice IMO.

I had heard her song "Valery" many times, and whilst I did not actually dislike it, I had assumed it was a boy of the sexless kind that seems to be the norm in modern light-weight pop music. Not a voice, or a talent that attracts me one bit, now I realise the commection!
My lack of enthusiasm went down like lead balloon with my nephew! So we put some Dolly [Parton] om to show what real artistry is! At least Dolly has emotion of the real sort going for her, rather than kitsch! Dolly's songs are often rather deep! And she sings rock in tune, even if not everyone will appreciate her either ...
