If you were to write a book......

....what would it be about?

I've often thought that I had it in me to write one book before I pop my clogs. Just one. Probably a really crap one, but good enough for me to feel happy I'd done it. The trouble is, I really struggle to think what the hell I'm going to write about, which could prove a problem in the long run.

Perhaps I've led too boring an existence and that's why I can't think of a subject.

Or maybe I just don't have any imagination.

Anyway, my question is, if you were to write a book, what would you you write about?

(Promise I won't nick your ideas!)

See David Lodge Winker (and the many other writers who've tried that trick).

Actually, I have no trouble having ideas, it's a question of putting in the time to write them down and the only sense in which I have writers block is that I can't get what I have in my head as good on the page.

A belgian cartoonist (Kamagurka) did a book on writer's block a few years back. Maybe 200 cartoons on the same subject in a fairly short time. I think he wanted to contrast writer's block with his command of the creative process. And I think he succeeded.

Especially if its good pornography, as we all know that's the kind of literature which is intended to be read with one hand. Winker

How very disappointing Erik, you rake. All that talk of watching paint dry during the world cup and all the time you were clearly up to something else.

Purely on mental pictures. I bet Erik Scothron is just a pseudonym; He's really Hugh Hefner...

I thought we had already established that Erik is actually Katie Price. A womaniser is code for an advanced beautykit. A serial womaniser is someone who spends all her money on beautykits.

Haha when I worked in Dublin I often had lunch with three very pretty girls, one of whom was Chinese. Before long I was known as 'Bosley'.

Actually, Erik, I assumed your book would be about cosmology or quantum physics or Buddhism or perhaps all of those.

Or maybe there is room for a book about a rakish, buddhist quantum physicist with a hi-fi forum addiction and his adventures observing the curing processes of various decorative products in post application situations whilst entertaining three young ladies with a penchant for martial arts (or should that be marital arts Winker ).

President Bush finishes his first book. A spokesman for the President says he will start colouring the next one soon.
