Posted by: Kent D. Jensen on 29 November 2003

Hi,

Sisten 282/supercap/2xnap250-2/cd5/hicap
speaker cable naca5

1 nap250/2 on bass and midrange
1 nap250/2 on the tweeter
or
1 nap250/2 on bass
1 nap250/2 on the tweeter and midrange

What is best?

Thank you

Kent

I would think 1 on the bass and 1 on the mid range/tweeter.

The bass frequnecies typical draw the most current since most speakers drop to their lowest impedance in that frequency range. hence better distribution of current consumption for the trannies inside the 2 x 250's.

Also I should think you need to stand well back!! Should sound great.

Hi Kent,

IMHO the tweeter in active systems is soooo important that a dedicated 250 to that alone would probably give the best results.

Bob

yes.... I know your system is not active, but I still feel the top end is where the tingle factor / magic lies.

Hi

My old system was active on another Audiovecter speaker.

I have have tryed 250-2 on the tweeter and 250-2 on bass-midrange. It is the best sound. The tweeter uses a lot of power.

None,
1 250 for the left speaker, 1 for the right.
Bass+mid on one channel, tweeter on the other as a general rule but can depend on speakers; i don't know yours

And, buy a CDX2 ASAP, before others tell you have a mullet.

The higher frequencies demand more from amps,
if you had say a 140 and a 90 to run a pair of 2 unit speakers then you shoul use the better amp for the tweeters.
following this logic through,i would therefore suggest that bass and mid share the amp.
left and right chanels remaining for left and right speakers deffinatly, otherwise i dont think the balance would work and you may have to get cables altered.
i run 2 140s bi amping twin driver speakers
but am looking to change to 1 250
you may well find a nap300 would be better than even 3 250s

Get a CDX2/CDS2 on loan from your dealer for a week and you wouldn't want to go back to a CD5!!?! it would transform your systim!....

Used to be that Naim dealers wouldn't sell mullets. That was back in the good old days of "source first".
Seriously though, you have to be hearing the limitations of your CD player.

No problems with balance, yes cables would have to be altered, but it is quite easy.
Have you noticed there is no left and right channel labels on Naim gears, only CH1 and CH2.
