Quad esl 63

Posted by: miles on 11 December 2002

I'm writing for some advice on behalf of my father who at the moment has quad esl 63 speakers , an old sony cdp and a roksan integrated/power. He would like to set up a secondary system using the sony/roksan and so needs an amp and speakers for the main system to drive the quads.
So basically at the moment he's thinking of a second hand quad 66/606 system with possibly a meridian cd or maybe naim. I was wondering if he would perhaps be better off with a second hand naim amp especially with the new range making second hand /exdemo a good possibility.
The quad 66/606 would probably cost about £800-900 so would like to know what would be reasonable naim wise for this price and whether anyone haas experience of driving esl 63's with naim amps.
Ok thats it ... thanks for your time!

I drove 63s for 8 years with Quad 4052s then with a Naim 250 for 8 years. The 250 was a great amp overall. The bottom line to me? Get the Naim amp he can most afford? It will play great sounding music forever.
