Hi!
My 1994-CDS with a nextel ring in good shape sometimes can't find track-numbers: it makes a strange clacking noise but doesn't show the ERR-message... Using the puck with 2 rubbers does help, but not always.
Today for the first time it also made click-noises in the middle of a track. This CD is in perfect condition, without any fingerprints or scratches, and my 2 other CD-players can play it correctly.
So do I have to worry? Or ist it just normal for the CDS1?
Thanks for any advice,
Jun

So this means that it's only an issue of the nextel-ring...? If so, could I put something under or on the disk to fix this problem like Fraser did?
Fraser, what kind of ring are you talking about? Where can I get it?
Most important question: is there any possibility to apply a thin layer to the position where the nextel-ring was by e.g. a metalworker...?

Jun,
These rings come with blank CDRs bought on a spindle - i.e. without boxes. They are 2mm thick and kitchen scissors are sufficient to cut out the segment I mentioned.
I have about 8 of these, so if you want one, let me know where to send it.
