power combinations

140/HICAP or single 180
72/HICAP or 102/NAPSC
72 self powered + 180 or 72 powered from 180
I will appreciate a good answers.
Thanks, Ozren
It is the preamp section (ie the 72 or 102) which either gets power through the power amp or from the addition of a Hicap (which is a very cost effective upgrade for either model). The power amps perfformance is not altered by the addition of a Hicap to the system.
The 'best' combination will depend on a other things such as what you are driving but I would guess that a better preamp with Hicap through a cheaper power amp delivers more music than the more expensive power amp/stand alone cheaper pre combination.
I hope this makes sense

A 72/Hi/140 would be around £1100-1200 used.
There are other options at that price - in Scotland there is currently a 32.5/Hi/250 combination for sale in one of the ads papers for £975 so if you could find something similar that would be quite a bargain and quite possibly better than the 72/Hi/140 if you have demanding speakers.

I think a s/h 32.5/HC/250 is about the best 1K amp there is.
