My eldest daughter is awaiting surgery and is on disability as the result of a car accident.
My youngest daughter is in the hospital for kidney stones and a kidney infection.
My wife is having horrible pain problems with her hip and shoulder.
We can smell the oil from the spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and shrimp has gone from $7 to $16 a pound to pay for the fishermen's gas to go to new shrimp grounds.
People have been screaming at me at work.
Somebody come down and just shoot me ...

Mike, close your eyes, breath, slowly and calmly.
Do this five or six times and you'll feel better.
You stressing isn't going to change a thing.

Mike, no easy answers. I had to leave my beloved work place (bike shop) due to my sudden, severe OCD. Trying to resolve it through meds and various therapies. My wife's two sister's both died, her mom is wasting away from dementia in a home, things are bleak for several reasons. I'm getting some solace listening to Elkie Brooks right now, and surfing the Naim Forums communicating with nice Naim people like you, and Shoot, and every other decent sort I've met through Naim.

Although it doesn't seem like it now, these things will pass.
I recall when I took early retirement due to angina from a job which I loved. The final precipitating factor was that I was getting pain if things weren't going well, and hence was possible becoming a danger to my patients.
Got very depressed for a couple of months, but with the help of meds and sympathetic family all resolved, and I am now very happy (except when I fall out with SWMBO)
Hang on in there.

Hang in there and be strong for your family.
It is keeping me going just now - SWMBO just finishing a CHEMO course and a 10% chance of lasting 2 years...

Mike, I feel for you, having gone through a depressive state myself a few years back. But things do change, and I couldn't be happier now.
Give Pollini's discs of Beethoven's last five sonatas a couple of spins to remind yourself what people are capable of.

And Mike,
Sorry I can't help, but the sun will shine again.

Sorry to hear about this Mike. Try spinning Monk in SF, it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Mike, glad you like Monk in SF. And the Pollini is also one of our favourites. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm very sorry to read this thread. Good luck to you and your family and all of the folks of the Gulf dealing with this disaster.
