Calander events and palm online?

Posted by: garyi on 10 February 2004

Guys apple have a .mac service where you can organise your life on a calander on line, this syncs with your PC and your palm.

The purpose of this is if I set an alarm for an appointment my mac can send me an email to work to remind me of the appointment. But of course if the mac is switched off (I.e. when I am at work) no emails are sent.

If the calender is on line, i.e. .mac then the emails will always be sent.

Thing is I am too tight to pay the money for .mac

Is there anything else available that will allow my palm, mac and work email to work together to insure I don't forget things?

Gary,

I don't know of any online calendar that supports syncing with Mac OS clients (other than .Mac). It might be worth googling to see if anyone makes a sync client for Yahoo to Mac, for example. There might also be a SyncML option for the web-based service, your PDA, phone, etc (Starfish TrueSync rigns a bell). Anyway, Yahoo calendar has all the alert functionality needed- alerts to your email address, alerts to you phone, alerts to IM, etc.

Otherwise, assuming you want calendar data on your PDA and desktop(s) (as opposed to network only, accessed via a browser) you'll need to pay for .Mac (I think).

</offering no help>

How about this- carry your PDA everywhere and use its calendar's reminder audible alerts. That's what they're for! Smile
