Vuk in critical condition

Remember that picture of Vuk holding his cat, Fluffy. Well, the cat turned on him.

It's really, really ugly.

Some cats are really strange that way. My former cat often trapped people in the bathroom of my apartment, including a 6'6" bouncer who was visiting. The guy finally managed to drop a towel on the cat and bolt for the door. By the time he started to unlatch the lock, the cat was out from under the towel, down the hallway, onto the couch, up onto one end of the piano, and down to the other end by the door, just in time to start slashing at the guy's neck!

That cat was definitely unstable! Fortunately he decided to commit suicide by jumping from the 21st floor balcony.

I'm glad to see you're home safe from the hospital. How did your parrot fair?

Sorry, but my cat went crazy back when I was listening to the Panasonic midi system, and we didn't have any Cher or Metheny at the time (although some BNL discs were certainly around).

I suspect the seminal event was getting him neutered. It was when I picked him up the next day that we freaked out for the first time. From that moment onwards, just walking too quickly down the hall could set him off.

Although he was a black cat, he had some of the facial features of a Siamese. We have a number of friends with that breed who've seen similar outbreaks from their pets.

Is it 'International Flame Mike Hanson' day today? There seems to be plenty of evidence although my diary says nothing of it.

Ps Did the cat land on anyone as a final act of vengeance?

I don't think so. However, we didn't see him take the dive. We didn't even realize he was missing, until my wife woke up at 2am asking if I knew were the cat was. We spent the next hour or two searching for the cat in the apartment, on the ground outside, making "Missing" posters, pasting them up, etc. We received a phone call the next morning letting us know that someone had been kind enough to toss the body in the dumpster out back.

Its the thought that counts.....

PS. You were talking about electrostats and their bass, or rather lack of it. Why don't you try paired-Magneplanars. This is where you have two pairs each channel consisting of two speakers each at 90 degrees to one another. I'm pretty sure this will give the bass, in-room presence and mid-treble delicacy you crave.

PS Steely Dan used this set-up for monitoring, its worth a try.

Unfortunately, my listening room is only 8x12 feet, so there's a good chance that that even a single pair won't fit. Planar speakers like to be at least two or three feet from the wall, and this could get very cramped in my room.
