sound editing saftware

Do you know of a sound editing software package that will:

Split sound files
Fade out a sound file
Stitch together sound files
Convert the stitched file into a real audio file for web streaming.

I use Sound Forge which does all this and much more. It's not cheap though unless you've got a generous friend with contacts (like I have!).

There's bound to be something available as freeware though. Google "free sound processing software" and you should find something.

Traktor DJ will do just that.
Look here for a general overview. It is simple to use and can do much more than you need.
