Deep in the bowels of the piles I came across
The Notorious Byrd Brothers, The Byrds.
Francesco Zappa, Frank Zappa.
Both surprising, neither ridiculous.
What will I find tomorrow? When there's so much old music to listen to how does new stuff get an ear in?

I think "The Notorious Byrd Brothers" is one of the most overrated albums out there. Its quite good, but the way the critics wax lyrical....
Another critically overrated album Moby Grape - Moby Grape.
Maybe you had to be there??!

It's synclavier transcriptions by our Frank of some obscure 18th Century bloke. It's OK but nothing exceptional by the standards of his contempories (Mozart and Haydn)

Francesco Zappa is hardly essential Zappa, I picked it up secondhand in the last 15 years and never played it. It was really rather entertaining and will get played again.
Perhaps I'll have another go at the LSO....

Not 200 Motels or LSO territory - it's just pretty straight 18th Century chamber music played on a synclavier.

Please. You surely don't deserve to punish yourself with the LSO stuff do you? I blagged tickets to the concert (I love Zappa) and sat with a bunch of guys who were ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the most banal squeaky-door music I've ever heard (Bogus Pomp was OK).
Whn FZ appeared for his bow the crowd went wild, but if ever I saw the Emperor's New Suit, it was that night.
