Lingo+Conn 401/E

For those who still care about the Lingo connector issue, I finally had the Conn 401/E installed in my LP12. My Linn dealer had never heard of it when I ordered it several months ago and the the distributor's rep who installed the cable and tuned my LP12 was not sure that I needed it. However, correct use of the Conn 401/E with Naim amps was reconfirmed - I believe with Linn UK - and installation went ahead.

Well does it matter - make a difference? Yes, an unqualified yes! My LP12 certainly sounds much better but it might be thought that this was due solely to the retuning (plus a new drive belt). However, what has convinced me is the the fact that the performance of my NAT02 has also improved significantly.

So it looks like the CONN 401/E is the path to take for those of you still using a Lingo with Naim amps.

I agree totally. I felt the CONN/E was about 33% of a Lingo improvement. A bit of a no brainer in a Lingo/Naim system. As I set up my own LP12 the deck was a constant with & without.

I'm confused on this still confused
It seems that all posts regarding it are by those in the U.K. Is this cable fitted between the LP-12 and Lingo, LP-12 and pre-amp, or Lingo and mains?

I am in Canada and yes my Linn dealer did not know of it, nor was the distributor sure of the need. However, since installation I can assure you that it is advised. Not only does the LP12 perform much better but the performance of my 02 is now astonishing!

As said above it is the cable connecting the Lingo with the LP12 itself.

I too have a Linto and yes the tonearm cable ground wire is connected to the Linto. However, I believe that the CONN 401/E grounds the the Lingo to the LP12 and thus the Linto as well. Is it necessary? It seems to work well in my system. By the way it was an occasional contibutor from Linn UK to the earlier Naim website who first mentioned the use of the Conn 401/E with Naim electronics. That was due to the complaint that was made about the negative effect of the Lingo on Nam gear. The Conn 401/E was to resolve this problem.
