SBL & external crossover box
Posted by: kinetic on 05 September 2003
The external crossover box was detached from the back of the SBL for the purpose of transport. On receipt, I couldn't find any mechanical parts (screws? plastics?) to reattach the crossover box onto the back of the SBL. Anyone please help if it's possible to use standard screws, or do I have to purchase special mechanical parts to reattach them. Thanks.

My SBL's seem to tak fairly standanrd 1 inch screws, fitting into pre-drilled holes. The cross over fits to the bottom box, and should have little rubber eyes slotted into the screw slots to isolate it from vibrations. Hope this is helpful. If in doubt the screws are the same as the ones securing the tweeter pod to the frame, if you ant to take one to your local diy store. If in doubt talk to Richrad Dane at NAIM, he knoes everything and has just sorted out the tweeters on my SBL's

Kinetic.
Many people do not attach the x-over to the SBL leaving it leaning gently behind. This means the x-over is less prone to the box vibrations, you could try this. My dealer always has his SBL's this way, though I've got to admit i've always had mine attached.

Yes I've heard that too. May as well leave it hanging, but if you do want to screw it on, make sure you don't clamp it up too tight. It's supposed to be just pinched up and no more.
