Dropped Flash costs me...
Posted by: John Channing on 29 January 2003
I noticed that my Flash remote was rattling and discovered that it had a small hairline crack above the display. I can only assume that it got this from falling off the settee onto my wooden floor at some point. The damage: £165 to repair. Ouch.

You already have it for repair! That's where the £165 quote came from via my dealer Oranges and Lemons.

OK John I will have a look!
Paul,
Please do. My Flash was still under warranty, but I think it was accidentally damaged by falling off the settee so I didn't try to claim it was faulty even though it is disappointing that such an expensive item could be damaged by such normal use. If there is anything you can do that will stop me from paying half the price of a new one to get it fixed I will appeciate that!

As as aside, my Flash works fine but the black paint came off where the unit comes into contact with one`s hands. It is as if the oils on my hands dissoled the paint. So it looks pretty bad. Meanwhile I use the cheap lightweight remote that comes with the preamp. I actually like it better because it is so light to carry. However, at the price of the CDS2 and the net expense of buying the Flash, it is very "un-Naimlike" for Naim to manufacture such a fancy piece of equipment only to have the paint dissolve off the unit. I know that this has happened to more that just my Flash as I have seen others post their similar experiences. Any comments from the people at Naim? david.

Nice looking unit, but it's the size of a housebrick, and needs gorilla hands to operate it

What Hi-Fi, and in the RS flyer, and in the Window of the shop.
Mine has all my units programmed, and works super fine.
I have had to be quite stern with the wife, has she hankers after the old remotes, especially the NTL one. I found hiding the old ones works well.
