An interesting little tidbit I picked up on the internet last week.

Personally I preferred the thread in Audio Asylum about the upcoming merger of Linn and Bose

As taken from the press release in question:

Linn sound systems are used in Royal Palaces and the world's finest homes, luxury liners, private superyachts and award winning aircraft lounges.

Hmmm.

My wife will be quite pleased to know that the old LP12 bestows "world's finest homes" status on our dump.

Linn have tended to use Sony transport mechanisms, their support for SACD (software and forthcoming hardware) is bound to lead to some form of partnership.

Does the fact they can't spell 'vibrato' have any significance in terms of just how doomed the technology is, I wonder?

The small print at the bottom of the Linn-Sony press release which I find highly amusing:

"The matters discussed in this news release include certain forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, including, but not limited to, the possible reduction of consumer spending occasioned by terrorist
activity and armed conflict, the timely availability and acceptance of the Company’s new products, the impact of competitive products and pricing, the dependence on continued growth in demand for PC and consumer multimedia products, the fact that the initial determinations described herein are subject to further review and appeal, and the other risks detailed from time to time in the SEC reports of ESS, including the reports on Form 10-K and Form 10-Q.
Actual results could differ materially from those projected in the forward-looking statements."

In plain English:

"Whilst this is a 'Pie in the Sky' endeavour, we are trying to make it sound as high tech and exciting as possible with the intention of getting our names mentioned in the newspapers. Anything and/or everything contained in this press release could be waffle, but we're not going to dislcose at this point"
