NAPSC and MusicWorks

Posted by: Naheed on 12 May 2002

Alright calling all MusicWorks users, how many of you actually connect the NAPSC to your MusicWorks blocks, rather than following conventional naim wisdom and relegating it to another outlet or even spur ?

After sometime i have powered it from the MusicWorks block and there's a definate improvement (bass lines and subtle detail)...

I guess the MusicWorks removes the nasty hash the NAPSC introduces, and with its earth common with all the other gear this some how helps ???

I have a 6 way block plugged into a dedicated spur.

The spur made a good difference but the Music block only seemed to have a marginal effect, if any.

I have often thought about replacing the double unswitched socket at the end of the spur for a 6 socket one if there is such a thing.

Naheed, I agree with you, keeping everything on the musicworks block is preferable IMHO.

Cheers Mick...

Interesting - i've heard the comment a few times that MusicWorks is very good removing hash from a non-dedicated spur, but the effect is small on a dedicated spur, less hash toremove i suppose.

I did find however, rewiring my current NAPSC with a MusicWorks lead was another worth while improvement.

Hi Mark...

From memory the original conversation i had with Larry - was to my suprise to keep the napsc on the block.

Is the conventional Naim wisdom to put the NAPSC on a sep spur? confused

Conventional Wisdom is to keep it as far as possible from your gear, and normally plugged into another outlet. Some go as far as another spur !!!

...the official response would be to keep the Napsc on the same circuit (and block if applicable.) Plug it in at the opposite end of the block from the rest of the hi-fis' plugs.

"I cheated and emailed Salisbury"

On Sunday night? And you get an immediate response?

They're good, but I doubt that good wink Coincidentally, I emailed them last week with a question regarding best position in a strip when plugging in a Napsc.
