HDX and NAS question with OSX

Posted by: Richard Adams on 20 March 2010

OK people my new HDX arrived yesterday and I'm busily loading all my CDs on to it.

I have a Netgear ReadyNAsDuo attached to my router. I'm running OSX on an iMac and a Macbook Pro. The NAS has the default setup. I have promoted the media folder on the NAS to a Music sore and enabled the backup folder on the NAS to a network share

I have a few his res albums on my iMac that I want to play through the HDX. Where do I put them on the NAS and how do I get them there with OSX?

Many thanks

You should make / have made a folder on the NAS which you keep outside of the Music Store.
You can create a Network Share to this folder on the HDX and you can put your external files in this folder. HDX will then be able to read them.

i think you need to read this post

http://forums.naim-audio.com/e...2903417/m/6172958927

refers to issue with using the readyNAS in default mode and the media folder as the music store.

you can make folders on a readynas by browsing to the readynas over the web (usually something like 192.168.1.1/admin) then goto share, add share

i would suggest you create two new folders - one called HiRes the other Ripped tunes - so similar at your discretion. then use these for your music

Have done this, thanks. Do I delete the other folders or just leave them?
