Audiotech Wall Shelf

Posted by: Paul Gravett on 07 February 2002

I have noticed that there are 2 Audiotech Wall Shelves for sale on Loot. The ad says they are ideal for LP12s and Naim. Does anyone know what they are like and how much they cost new? Does £50 represent much of a bargain? I am looking for a good support for my LP12 which is currently standing on top of a six shelf Quadraspire unit

I've no experience with the Audiotech but an option to consider is the Wallnut II from British Audio Products which is £65 new. See http://www.britishaudio.co.uk/wallnut2.html

I can't compare this to any other wall shelf but certainly moving my turntable (and CD player - it's got 2 shelves) onto it was a significant improvement compared to having then on my Target rack with the amps.

Steve

I do they're mine

Paid £150 each for them and used them for 4 years with my Naimed LP12/CDS/52/4 pack/SBL. Changed to Fraim when I moved to a drylined house last autumn and dared not risk them

The shelf sits on 4 height adjustable spikes on a light weight frame. These slot onto 4 expanding wall bolts and are loosely but very safely held by 4 nuts. They're significantly better than the Tripods I had previously used. The Fraim is significantly better still though (so it should be at the price)

I just bought one off E-bay.
I hope to use it for my CDX or Rega3. It was so cheap I think it's worth the experiment. I'll post impressions of it once it's installed.

I too need a wall shelf (floating floors problem). I am trying to decide between buying one of the old standards (e.g., SoundOrg or Mana), or picking one up second hand. These things rarely come up on Audiogon... Mike, what search string do you use on Ebay? I have been quite unsuccessful in my attempts.

I just type "naim". Some people add "naim" to the header of whatever they're selling if they think suckers like us would be interested.

I'll e-mail you regarding a good deal...

Paul,

I used an Audiotech wall shelf for a number of years under my LP 12. It was certainly better than the target shelf before it, but not really worth the cost. I would suggest looking out for 2nd hand Mana stuff. Its loads better.

Good luck

David
