How do I move Hi Res FLAC files to my Naim system?

Posted by: GoBlue on 19 June 2010

Hi everyone. I am new to the Naim forum but have had Naim stereo equipment for over 18 years. I just upgraded my system to the Naim HDX, DAC + XPS, NAC 252 Pre-amp + Supercap, NAP 250.2 Power Amp and Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor M speakers. The system sounds unbelievable with CDs, better with LPs and even better on Hi Res recordings. I would like to purchase some Hi Resolution recordings on the internet but am unsure of the best, most efficient path of getting the music to my system once the download is completed and saved on the desktop of my MacBook. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. Make sure you Macbook music files are set up as a network share.

2. Download music

3. I convert to wav and create two folders (one with flac, the other with wav)

4. Either way move folder to the shared music file on the Macbook

5. Use DTC to locate the network share where you've got the music stored on your MacBook.

6. Rescan the shared file-- HDX will now see the added music folder as a share.

7. Play music. Sounds like alot of steps, but takes a minute or two. If you use wav file go into DTC find album, make sure its in right side of DTC screen--> right click-->properties-->add album art--> locate file-->add album art
