HELP Speakers for a new Naim system?

Posted by: Justin.E on 25 November 2003

I am thinking of buying a cd5 , nac112, nap 150.
The problem is the speakers, I have tried the intro 2's and liked the sound but i need to posistion them near a tv and as i understand they are not shielded.(how much distance is required?) I have also tried the linn Ninka's which i liked orginally but when i heard the intro's i found the intros more realistic sounding. I like floor standers and wondered what other speakers people could recomend. The other issue is the dealers near me in bristol seem to have a very limited choice of speakers!, I am looking for speakers with a nice bass and did find the intros a tad light, and i don't want to buy the system without hearing it first.

You might like to consider the Neat Mystique, a very capable and reasonably-priced floor-stander. It works particularly well with a system such as the one you are considering.

Justin,

How about some S/H Credo's (much better than Intro's by all accounts) or SBL's ?? (my choice, but then I'm biased)

Justin,
I would really recommend Neat Elites or Neat Mystiques. I think they sounded better than the Intro 2s (by some margin!) and partner very well with the equipment you are using.
Choosing speakers can be an agonising experience - good luck!

Justin,

Provided the speakers are a couple of feet away from the TV, you should be ok. Other floorstanding speakers to consider would be:

Dynaudio Audience 62 (£800ish) or 72 (£1200ish), each in wood finish which really improves them

Totem Arro (£845 - £950) Dinky but impressive

Royd RR1 or RR2 at a stretch. £800 and £1200 respectively. Fab fun each.

Regards,
Frank.
