Steven Wilson HQ News
On the 4th October 2007 Porcupine Tree arrived for an in-store performance and signing session at Park Avenue CDs in Orlando, Florida, with 200 fans also in attendance. Although it was originally planned that the full band would play, lack of space dictated that it was only the 2 guitarists / singers Steven Wilson and John Wesley who delivered an impromptu performance, including many songs rarely (if ever) played by the band, making for a very special and intimate show. Fortunately this one-off performance was captured by a remote recording facility and the complete 8 song, 33 minute show is now being released in a mail order only CD, with a digipack sleeve created by photographer Lasse Hoile and designer Carl Glover. The CD will be available to pre-order soon from the PT Store (please do NOT email to ask when), and is expected to ship in the week commencing 11th Feb.
Dutch vinyl specialists
Tonefloat will also release a quality 180gm vinyl edition of We Lost the Skyline in a gatefold sleeve, with a limited and numbered edition of 1,000 copies on marbled vinyl, and a regular edition on black vinyl. These editions will be released on 18th March, but will also be available to pre-order soon from the ToneFloat website. The Porcupine Tree store will also stock the vinyl editions once they are released.
Full track listing for the album is:
1. the sky moves sideways (4.02)
2. even less (3.27)
3. stars die (4.33)
4. waiting (3.52)
5. normal (4.52)
6. drown with me (4.09)
7. lazarus (4.29)
8. trains (4.04)

Damn. Only standing tickets available! Can't stand for too long unfortunately.

Mrs S said that if you want to eat there get there early (it depends what else is happening there that day).
If you're an O2 customer you may be able to use the fast track queue though I think this may only apply to the main arena, just flash your equipment to the security gorillas.

I thought that too but you can select for the non standing tickets, we got centre circle earlier.
I just checked, on the first page when you select number of tickets in the best available window use the pull down and select the other choices.

Doubtful mark at least for this year, from whats being said its only a minitour for them to film a DVD for FOAB live and visit places in europe they missed from last winters tour.
The travelodge nearby is only 29squid a night so were heading there then going on to a cottage in kent for a few days and making a break of it..

Thanks for the info ightenhill - although it's not the news I wanted to hear!
Unfortunately Mrs markah is not a PT fan (she has no taste in music!) otherwise I would be doing the same as you and having a few days away incorporating the gig. Sounds like a nice break for you - enjoy!
Mark
P.S. Not sure where you are staying in Kent but Canterbury is well worth a visit. I had a few hours to kill a couple of months back on a drive down to Dover, so went and had a look round. It's worth it for the Cathedral alone.

Maybe this gig would help change her mind. My missus often does not like some of my music, but she has got into PT big time herself. 24 hours to go until the Sydney gig....whopeeee. MilesSmiles, Mario - we are in for a fun night.

I kept playing Fear of a Blank Planet in the car and then playing the Arriving Somewhere DVD at home. Then before I knew it, I was getting home from work and the PT CD's had disappeared off to the system she listens on. I was very pleased. Today she was singing away to In Absentia in the car and wants to buy gig merchandise tomorrow night. Converted.
Glad you got some tickets. Looks like there will be quite a few forum members there.

I did catch Mrs S singing along to 'Even Less' off 'We Lost the Skyline' recently. I think she might also like 'Waiting'. It's a start but she won't be accompanying me to the indigO2 in October.
The only major concert we've been to together was The Cure at the Royal Albert Hall. She hated the (3hrs 15 mins) of music but enjoyed the people watching.
Last time I saw PT I took my son so their fanbase seems to span the generations, I suspect that the more recent stuff has attracted a younger audience. e.g seagull jr litens to 'Signify' but doesn't like 'Up the Downstair' much.
Lontano - Enjoy, and thanks once again.

Well, after all that, I've just come home to a message from my wife (who's in work) that although she doesn't want to go she has bought me a ticket and booked me in the nearest Travelodge!! She even tried to book a cheapo train ticket but they're not on sale yet. How GOOD is that??!! See you all there on 19th October - I'm so made up.

Here is an interesting article about the
INDIGO2. In the TECHNOLOGY section the Sound setup seems impressive. Has anyone been to the INDIGO2 yet to comment on the Sound Quality of the PA? If ever a band deserves to have an excellent PA then its Porcupine Tree. It will be interesting to compare this against the recent gigs at The Forum in Kentish Town. As Mr Wilson has borrowed a few licks off Mr Gilmour perhaps he should tap him up and get hold of the
Britannia Row gear that Dave and the Floyd have travelled with all these years.

Last night Mr and Mrs MilesSmiles, Mario, Jerome (Mario's friend) and Mr and Mrs Lontano attended the Sydney Porcupine Tree show.
It was a very good show and the band were on excellent form - about two hours long and a pretty full on PT experience. Set list was mostly from FOABP, In Absentia and Deadwing eras, so lots of the heavy end of the catalogue.

Musicianship was excellent as you would expect with some great drumming from Gavin Harrison and for a band that has not played much for a while they really were very well rehearsed.
For me the best bits were Open Car, Blackest Eyes, Anesthetise, Sleep Together, Trains(best track of the night, with Steve playing some great acoustic guitar) and Halo. Hatesong did not do it for me for some reason.
I was disappointed not to get to hear Sentimental and Normal but I am not really complaining
So a good gig and I look forward to the London show in October.
A few shots from the gig.

What a fantastic show this was. I'm amazed that although you left your big guns at home the little camera made such great pics from a distance.
