Inspired by other threads. I really like Led Zep's first six. But I didn't like Presence in 1976 and after several attempts even now don't get it,
[I've heard that Passion Play does that for Tull fans but it is one of my favourites]

Two concept albums where the vocalist took over and made a solo album backed by the band:
Pink Floyd 'The Wall'
Genesis 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway'
I am mostly interested in the musicians in the bands, and neither vocalist is a favorite of mine. On these two albums, bands who had made songs with space, interesting structures and arrangements, basically made a lot of very standard three and four minute songs to play out the vocalist's ego on stories that I find very dull.
I know lovers of lyrics and narrative songs adore these albums, I just feel that they wasted the musicians who were doing little more than back the vocalists.
I do love 'Presence' by Led Zeppelin, to me it has some of their more bluesy and relaxed playing. Jimmy Page really let go on 'Achilles Last Stand'. It does not not have the acoustic relief of other albums, and is pretty much of one tone though, so I can understand why some do not like it. I have always found 'Passion Play' rather impenetrable.

Presence is ace.
I love The Floyd but A Momentary Lapse of Reason is one of the most abysmal records ever made.

Bob Dylan.
Can't stand that whiny annoying voice. Gives me agita.

What about his velvety baritone on Nashville Skyline?
Another for me is the solo work of Black Francis...I just don't get it. I understand the Pixies are the finest band that's ever lived and every album is a masterpiece (which is beyond dispute

Supernature got me into Goldfrapp, and I like both Black Cherry and Felt Mountain. Seventh tree leaves me cold and try as I might, I just can get into this album. It is as if they have gone from being OMD/Ultraxoxish to Enya-like
Magic Number's first album is enjoyable and I had high hopes for the follow up Those the Blokes. Unfortunately something has been lost between the first and second album and Those the Blokes sits on the shelf unplayed.

Kinks before 1972 is, in my opinion, some of the best "rock" music ever.
Kinks after 1972 is almost unlistenable to me.

Gulp - Preservation Act 1 and 2, Soap Opera, Schoolboys in Disgrace and, of course, Sleepwalker. Mr Davies can do no wrong by me
However, as much as I like Mr Zappa and admire the Turtles, I just don't get the point of the Fillmore East: June 1971 - my least favourite elpee by the great man, when I hear this record I think they were just another band from LA. Still Frank snapped out of it and assembled his Hot Rats to make the superb Waka Jawaka.
CCR's Mardi Gras is another candidate, but I think everybody accepts it is an awful record - Sweet Hitch Hiker and Someday Never Comes excepted.

and there you go!
But I will say that I have P1&2, Schoolboys and Sleepwalker in my collection, so I will have another listen.
Ray Davies latest solo work is really nice too.
