NEW POP QUIZ
Posted by: BigH47 on 28 February 2005
The US POP QUIZ seemed to be petering out. So I suggested we "open" it up to general pop/music. It was suggested that I get it started. Me and my big fingers!
Ok here goes:-
A group who could also be a farming system. Current and not particularly well known chartwise.
Howard
I have added this question to the end of the US one as well.We could stick with the new thread or ask for the original to be re-named? Others may have switched off the original thread.

New clue: The band/s in question are led by 2 brothers who have had a long battle with addiction and the tv program was fronted by a former Radio 1 DJ who arranged things for people.

Just to stop this disappearing onto p.2, is it anything to do with the van Buren Bros. I think I'm much too recent though. Perhaps a few more clues Jono?

I was thinking about this yesterday and drew another blank

I think the answer might be Shack, The Strands and the Pale Fountains with Jim'll Fix It as the TV program. I got Shack and JFI from the clues and then had to web search for the connected bands.

Paul,
Jimmy Saville of course.
I was thinking of the guy who got sacked for payola - Simon Dee.
Andy
ps. Welcome to the forum.

Easy question to keep thread going:
Founder member of very successful '60s group. De-camped to the USA in '68 and joined well-known band who occasionally still perform. Interested in photography with large collection, had show of his own work late last year in England.
Who is he/she?

Graham Nash immediately springs to mind but that's maybe too easy.

No it's not too easy Syd - spot on.
Your turn.

Now this is not as easy as I had imagined, setting a question.
OK, resist the temptation to Google...
Recorded in Paris in '68 before a Space Whisper gig. The track listing is:
"Lovin Spaceship"
"Women of the Moon"
"Vanishing Rama"
"Guharam Rock"
"Between Spirits"
"Ancient Faces"
Album title? Recorded by whom? And who is the notable member of the group?
PS If anyone has this record I want it!!!

Now this does make things interesting...perhaps Google may not have the answer either.
A clue perhaps, try the pyschedelia scene.

I am off for a few days - returning Monday. So if further clues are required you will have to be patient. But for the meantime...
Bearing in mind my musical tastes an abstract clue that may lead you to the individual - think continental cheese.

Arrrgh!
The clues keep pointing to Gong and Daevid Allen or Bert Camembert as he was wont to call himself at one time. But I can't find any references to those track titles. Is it some ultra obscure bootleg?.

Very good Syd - you are on the right track. Daevid Allen is indeed the individual. The album in question is the "missing" album, but what is it???

Shall I divulge the details?
Posted on: 06 April 2005 by MichaelC
OK - "Dreaming The Magic of Your Maya" by Princess Flower and the Moon Rays.
PrinessFlower and the Moon Rays comprised:
Daevid Allen
Loren Standlee
Ziska Baum
I believe there is reference to this also in Daevid Allen's book "Gong Dreaming".
I guess Syd should set the next question.

Amazing!!
Can't find anything about this record on the web and nothing about it at GAS (Gong Appreciation Society) sitePlanetgong. Was it ever released Michael?
I'll think of a question soon
