NEW POP QUIZ

Posted by: BigH47 on 28 February 2005

The US POP QUIZ seemed to be petering out. So I suggested we "open" it up to general pop/music. It was suggested that I get it started. Me and my big fingers!
Ok here goes:-

A group who could also be a farming system. Current and not particularly well known chartwise.

Howard

I have added this question to the end of the US one as well.We could stick with the new thread or ask for the original to be re-named? Others may have switched off the original thread.

I have never heard of "Tubilah Dog" finally found a link to them in AMG.

The trouble with getting the question right is that I now have to find another one!

Try this:-

Early '60s "beat combo" from the South. I think one or more of them came from Horsham, Sussex. They come under the genre of Freakbeat. They were more tham just "Pretty Face(s)" though.
Their single managed No. 44 in the "pop pickers"
chart.

They were on the free festival circuit, band members joined up with Dave Brock to tour for a year or so as The Agents of Chaos. One time member of Tubilah Dog, Jerry Richards, has played guitar for Hawkwind on and off. Also supported Hawkwind on tour. Very much into the space rock scene although can hit the senses at times.

I found them on the Travellers Aid Trust lp - a couple of songs including a superb upbeat "Making Love on The Telephone".

I cannot tell a lie - twas a Google-ism I'm afraid!

OK - my turn....

Early 80's UK post-punk. experimental band formed by 2 brothers and others. Their strange name allegedly comes from Crowley or Burroughs but no-one was ever too sure on that. Their best album further emphasised their fetish for numbers.

What a responsibility. This is probably too easy.

Punk pathetique band with a drummer called Ploppy. Who were they and what was the title of their 'hit'?

Well done Rich - I said it was too easy.

My tenure as pop quiz champ was all too short. Back to you then.

Oh crikey - pressure on. It really is hard to pitch them at the right level of difficulty and make it unGoogleable. I'll get onto it in a bit!
