NEW POP QUIZ
Posted by: BigH47 on 28 February 2005
The US POP QUIZ seemed to be petering out. So I suggested we "open" it up to general pop/music. It was suggested that I get it started. Me and my big fingers!
Ok here goes:-
A group who could also be a farming system. Current and not particularly well known chartwise.
Howard
I have added this question to the end of the US one as well.We could stick with the new thread or ask for the original to be re-named? Others may have switched off the original thread.

Hmmm I take it a clue is required? Frontman went on to be the editor of a major music maagazine.

This is not easy. Devoid of ideas and even a quick google leaves me none the wiser!

OK...fingers on your buzzers....they left Factory and their only album - Hope Of Heaven - (plus a couple more singles) was released on Situation2. Frontman was editor of Mojo until very recently.

Nice one Nigel. Main man was Paul Trynka who just recently gave up the editor's job at Mojo. My attempts to get him to do a feature on Martin Stephenson, based on the fact that I knew someone who knew him 20 years ago from the Hull 'scene' seemed to fall on deaf ears!

Is this it:
Odd one out - Paul McCartney. Performed (composed???) theme song for James Bond movie Live & Let Die.
The others covered James Bond theme songs - Propellerheads - Goldfinger, Magazine - Goldfinger and Mark Burgess - You Only Live Twice?

MichaelC, over to you...

Ok:
The poem he wrote was the subject of a song. He was imprisoned (total isolation) in Fleury-Merogis. He escaped only to be gunned down in November 1979.
Who was he?
Song title?
Artist?

A couple of clues:
He was declared public enemy number one prior to hs death in the country from which the band originated.
The album featuring this song was released in 1980.
I am trying to make this as un-google friendly as possible!!!

Another clue - French band who released the album (and recorded in English except for this song in question).

Additional clues required???
Posted on: 16 May 2005 by HTK
That wouldn't be Gong by any chance?
Posted on: 16 May 2005 by MichaelC
Good idea, but no - but the genre would be metal.

Give up?
Posted on: 19 May 2005 by hungryhalibut
Definitely. Google has failed me. Heavy metal is unknown to me and the French version even more so!
