Celin F**king Dion, I asks ya?
eh?
Did Canada ever produce a good female artist?
Hang on is Joni Mitchell Canadian.
Ah but so is Alanis Mourous-Set
Very disapointed, I want to go to people looking at this CD and say 'what are you doing?' and prod them with my finger, hard.
yes, check out Holly Cole and Jan Ardenn.
Excellent musicians and albums.

It's crucial to remind yourself every single day that humans with intelligence and taste are vastly outnumbered. Vastly.

Joni Mitchell is indeed Canadian, and easily cancels out a hundred Celine Dions.
Another Canadian, Sarah McLachlan, while no Joni Mitchell, is certainly much closer to her than to Celine Dion.
Please tell me more of the artists you mention.
Night ride home is a very nice song, probably my favorite. I have the blue album, but am not so keen.
I got miles of isles on what appears to be new vinyle for 4 quid at watford market, nice.
BTW has anyone picked up the new Jewel album yet, I have the last two and like, but still more info required.
They are certainly artistes.

Also check out Patty Larkin, either her last album "Regrooving the Dream" or older ones like "Perishable Fruit" and "Strangers World". She's a formidable guitarist and singer, but most of her recordings involve a proper line-up. Very intense at times.
Then there's Jonatha Brooke, also a singer/songwriter. Excellent vocalist who also does vocal arrangements for other artists. Her last album "Steady Pull" is very pop/rock-oriented, has a nice duet with Neil Finn.

Do you know "Coming up for Air" by Patty Larkin, with harmonies by Jane Siberry? Simply stunning ...

I was just thinking the other night, while playing some Patty Larkin, that I should post a recommendation for 'regrooving the dream' and 'perishable fruit', both fantastic albums.
Didn't know that she is Canadian.
Will.
Glad there's someone else out there who likes PL - not many people seem to be aware of her. As a whole, I find "Perishable Fruit" a more consistent album, whereas "Regrooving the Dream" is a bit much to chew on if consumed in one sitting. The production on the latter is quite amazing, though, very intense vocals (first time it felt as if her voice lodged at the back of my skull).

Not yet, but I'll certainly look into it.

"Why the long face"?
Still makes me titter.

Jonatha Brooke is an incredible singer/songwriter/musician, but she is not Canadian.
Steady Pull is fine, but I much prefer The Angel In The House, Plumb, and 10 Cent Wings.

Sorry, I somehow thought she was. Anyway, garyi needs to buy at least one of her discs! I like "Plumb" best.
