An end to fossil fuel?

Dr. Robert W. Bussard gives a fascinating 'Tech-Talk' on google on his inertial electrostatic confinement fusion process that is allegedly 100,000 times more efficient than previous designs.

Should Google Go Nuclear? Clean, cheap, nuclear power (no, really)

Interesting. I won't spend the hour and a half for the video, but interesting none the less.
One small discontinuity I see... They are asking for donations for this organization that claims to be able to end the need for fossil fuel. Now, I don't have any hard figures, but the company that is able to control this would have the world by the short and curlies essentially forever.
Why are they not looking for investors rather than benefactors? Don't they think that industry giants would squash them like bugs for a chance to control that?
Something is fishy. Or Fissy. Or con-fussy. Your choice.

David,

Good question. I can't say I know the answer. Bussard does touch on the answer from 1.16 mins possibly through to the end but I have not watched the last 10 mins. I doubt the US will invest as it is run (in part) by the oil companies. China might.

actually one of my (albeit half-baked) theories was that the ins. cos. run the u.s. couldn't ever figure out though why they'd want all the kennedys dead .... they certainly ruined architecture for the next 1,ooo years. but you can count on big oil controlling whatever comes down the pike.

If he's really on to something with his approach then you can bet the oil companies want it either obliterated or all for themselves.

David,

Yes, I agree. It will be interesting to see how this develops. Watch this space.
