Julie and Buddy Miller- Written in Chalk

How would you compare this cd to earlier works?

For fans of what is loosely called "Americana" music, Buddy Miller is a singular talent. This new record with his wife Julie was already something to look forward to, but with last week's unfortunate news that Buddy had suffered a heart attack while on tour with Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin and Shawn Colvin, I would urge everyone who loves this sort of music to purchase some of his music. I don't know anything about his circumstances, but so many working musicians are not well covered by health insurance programs and often medical emergencies can be financially devastating for musicians in the US. I really love the gritty soul feel of his recent CD "The Universal House of Prayer" and any number of his records with Julie or alone are excellent. And then there is always his superb Spyboy record with Emmylou.
