Antonio Forcione Quartet ***
In Concert
NAIMCD099

With its deft combination of acoustic guitar and cello, Antonio Forcione’s group has long been one of the classier practitioners of pastel-tinged, Metheny-esque improv. As ever, a little patience is required in the opening sequences: Forcione is a virtuoso who likes to indulge in extended bouts of throat-clearing before he launches into the thick of things. But by the time the spry ethnic themes of African Dawn and Sahara Rain heave into view, the musicians have raised the temperature by several notches. Tarantella is as forceful a workout as you’ll hear from any heavyweight jazz-rockers. CD

Thanks for your interest in a vinyl version of 'In Concert'. At present we have no plans to release the album on vinyl. But you will be pleased to know that we are currently working on mastering both 'Touchwood' and 'Heartplay' on 180gms, at Abbey Road.

Oh no, not him again! Winker Yes, I know, at my age I should learn to be more tolerant towards other people's musical tastes, but this guy is soooo boring...

Kind regards,

I notice the CD is also on the HMV website at £9.99 - a little less than Naim website - anyone have any bright ideas why??

Thank you very much for your colourful feedback everyone!

Music is a diverse, dexterous and elusive beast at times, simply because there is such a thing as TASTE. One man’s aural pleasure is another mans aural poison. Perhaps this is what allows us to identify with melody and lyric, and contextualise accordingly as if it were our own? One thing I have learnt in my time as Label manager of Naim is that you cannot please everyone, as a certain prime minister recently admitted. However, I can strive to bring the Label success.

Much of our material is highly regarded and appreciated by a great deal of Naim customers. Antonio Forcione Quartet‘In Concert’, DVD and CD combined, is set to be our biggest selling release in the history of the Naim Label. The sound and visual quality is such that even our market competitors have begun using it to demonstrate new products. However it is the enchanting performance and compositions that keeps people coming back!

Nicolas Meier, whose highly original brand of Middle-eastern fuelled Jazz has gained him tremendous reviews and is currently enjoying a sell-out UK tour. Daniel Mulhern, enjoyed featuring as BBC Online’s album of the Week and is currently touring the UK. He has enjoyed great success with both the audiophile market and lovers of indie, folk and acoustic music.

In the future, a continually varied range of music will be available, to satisfy the needs and tastes of our growing and increasingly diverse customer base. You can listen to a track from our latest recording ‘The Helsinki Project’ on our myspace page: www.myspace.com/thenaimlabel. It is not released until June 11th, and is currently making huge waves in the PR world. Also if you really want an exclusive, The Naim Label is working with Chic Trip Hop group ‘Jump Ship’. Have a listen to the demo that brought them to our attention at www.myspace.com/jumpshipuk. I also have a Classical Label launch in the pipeline, to satisfy our more refined members of the audiophile community.

In such a creative and opinionated industry it is hard to please everyone, but I hope some this helps re-install your faith in our record producing abilities. Perhaps some of our repertoire in the coming years might grapple you with intrigue. And to those who already enjoy the fascinating talents of artists such as Charlie Haden and Antonio Forcione, we thank you for your custom!

Simon

Ps Yes, HMVs pricing is very competitive! Such is the nature of physical retail model at present unfortunately. We appreciate our loyal customers, who buy directly. I can assure you our customer services and the personal touch is such that it makes it worth spending the extra pennies. Plus we don’t have stocking problems! Happy shopping.
