Hello

Continuing our tradition of recording one of the UKs leading string quartets, we have a brand new CD available from the Allegri Quartet (Naim CD067)

Featuring music by Haydn (String Quartet in F Major) and Schubert (String Quartet in A Major) and the first recording by the Allegri of a piece by contemporary composer James Macmillan. Tuireadh was written in memory of the oil rig workers who died in the Piper Alpha tragedy, and was commissioned by the BBC for the Allegri. This piece was written for quartet and clarinet and features Canadian James Campbell.

The Quartet has gained three new members recently; Rafael Todes on second violin, Dorothea Vogel on viola and Pal Banda on cello join Peter Carter. This balance of youth, maturity and experience leads to a performance that is breathtakingly dynamic and full of the hallmarks of the Allegri's distinctive personality.

As usual, you can easily hear and buy this album though our wesbite.
