Nick,
as you seem to be a veritable font of
knowledge on this one time great band who moved the boundaries of folk rock forward in a unmeasurable manner, there is one of their songs that has stuck in my mind for as many years as they have been going ,but however hard I try I can't seem to find it ,do you know what, if any of their L/P'S or CD'S I can find
"String Driven Thing"
I would think that it would be one of their earlier L/p's
Thanks
Oldie.

Try "5000 Spirits" for starters. Head straight for "No Sleep Blues" or "Way Back in the 1960's". These 2 tracks will give you a pretty good idea of where they were at!

Nothing to add to Nick's comprehensive survey except to endorse the recommendation for Hangman's Beautiful Daughter, and impart the bizarre trivia snippets that Rose became the Lady Mayoress of Aberystwyth and that Matt Groening based Futurama on 'Robot Blues' from U. Just shows, doesn't it?

What's the verdict on 5000 Spirits then?

I tried. I really wanted to like this but it didn't do a thing for me Frown
Played it through twice and will have to steel myself to play it again. Maybe I was just in the wrong mood but I found it a little too 'obtuse'!

Good to try these things though!
