Am I going to have to get my snow chains out?

Finally, some festive weather. Not good for all I know.
Who has snow?

Lots of the white stuff here; it looked beautiful earlier on with the sun shining. Here's our lane -

6/10 cloud, bit of sun, no wind, quite cold but no snow.

btw snow chains and studded tires are banned in most of Canada ... wears up the roads too much ...

Can't say it was fun coming home from London last night in my mates MG! Got to Colchester at 0330 and found the last room for miles!

Still waiting here. Blue skies and no snow. Beginning to think this whole snow thing is government propaganda to give the media something to chew on

So where are you to have escaped the snow?

Hoping the M62 between Leeds and Manchester is passable tonight, as we have tickets to see Jimmy Carr at the Apollo tonight. It would be a shame to miss that.
Putting some sleeping bags, thermos, and a spade in the car before setting off. If the weather warnings are very serious, we might have to give it a miss.

About 5 miles north of the Mountains of Mourne - even the tops of the Mournes are clear of snow.

I was out on the local ice rink this morning. the rear wheel drive was hopeless and dangerous on the back roads. Had a dodgy moment trying to make it up a small hill.

Where were you skating, Guildford?

The worst thing about this weather is everyone who keeps saying to me..
Arrgggh, 4x4 gives better grip in this weather but my brakes are the same as yours so whilst I may be able to drive where you can't it doesn't mean I can stop any better!

I finally feel as if we are keeping up with the Jones’ at last. We had a full half inch of snow over night, and with temperatures around -3C the drive to work was exciting. I couldn’t decide which was scarier – 40 ton lorries zooming along in the outside lane spraying slush everywhere or the people who couldn’t be bothered to clear the snow off their cars and were looking at the world through a peep-hole in their windscreens.

About an hour ago I had a phone call from a freight company. They had a package for me but were not prepared to tackle the road I live on. Arranged to meet them on the edge of civilisation. Was quite an entertaining drive in a 4x4. Can understand why they didn't want to do it in a lorry.
