Viscose 'Oriental' Rugs

Posted by: Tim Danaher on 13 March 2005

You see shops setting up selling these, then they close up a few months later. Rugs are rubber-backed, ilky-looking viscose, computer-loom woven, but they look pretty good and make cheap stair runners.

So anyone know where ther are any at the moment S. Wales, Bristol/Bath, London? Nowt on Google.

Last one I saw was in Bath, called Falcon (I think)

TIA,

Tim there is a proper rug shop in bath, but I forget the name, its not falcon.

This type of carpet can cause a few problems. Because its not a particularly good fibre with no wool content it will tire very quickly and it gets very dirty.

Also if you wear certain shoes such as trainers it will cause static shocks.

I think in this instance paying a bit more will be better for you in the end.

Cheers, Gary --

Lots of rug shops in Bath!

Actually, viscose is a natural fibre -- made from wood pulp, would you believe? I've never had any of the problems you describe, and I've had the carpet for four years. I'm just about 1.5 metres short for my new stairs Frown

Tim

Try Leekes in Llantrisant or Cross Hands. They have a large rug section and I believe I have seen them selling these sort of rugs. If you decide to go traditional, there is a good oriental rug shop on City Road in Roath, Cardiff. It's called Tapsells I think.

These are simply enormous stairs. Have you been planting magic beans that you swapped for a cow?
